Kenduri Perempuan 2009 - Seminars, Workshops and Competition Held by ExxonMobil in Celebration of Mother's Day

Jakarta, 8 December, 2009 – In conjunction with the National Mother’s day, ExxonMobil Oil Indonesia Inc. together with Yayasan Jurnal Perempuan  and Ikatan Jurnalis Televisi Indonesia announce the celebration of Kenduri Perempuan Indonesia 2009.  This week, a series of events will explore issues surrounding women’s economic potential, health and education.

 

"This is an important time to reflect on the progress made for women in Indonesia.  Kenduri Perempuan Indonesia gives us an opportunity to celebrate the important achievements of women all over Indonesia," said Terry S. McPhail, President and General Manager of ExxonMobil Oil Indonesia Inc.  “ExxonMobil is proud to support and recognize women for the substantial contributions they have made across all aspects of social, cultural, economic and political life and, most importantly, the valuable impact they have made in their communities," he added.

 

Kenduri Perempuan Indonesia 2009 kicks off with a public discussion on Education, Health and Economic Potential for women in Kemang Village, Jakarta today.  A panel of experts such as: Titik Hartini, Dr. Kartono Mohamad, Darmaningtyas, Rocky Gerung and Ninuk Widyantoro will discuss women’s issues in economy, health and education.

 

ExxonMobil also has been working together with Ikatan Jurnalis Televisi Indonesia for a nation wide journalist writing competition for printing, TV and radio journalists on Women Empowerment.  Winners from the competition will be announced today at the event.

 

Since its presence in Indonesia, as a good corporate citizen, ExxonMobil has been active in developing and assisting communities around its area of operations. Through its world-wide Women’s Economic Opportunity Initiative, ExxonMobil has been working with NGOs to reach out to Indonesian women and girls and help them learn skills that will benefit themselves, their families and their communities.
