US$500,000 from ExxonMobil for Rehabilitation of Cepu Block People

ExxonMobil launched post-flood rehabilitation program for Cepu Block people worth US$500,000 or around Rp4.6 billion. The money will be used to revitalize agriculture sector, improve education facilities and provide free health check and improve people's nutrition. The program was launched in Kalitidu sub-district, Bojonegoro.

"The flood rehabilitation program worth US$500,000 is from ExxonMobil, not from cost recovery element," said Vice President Public Affair EMOI, Maman Budiman.  Mike Nelson added MCL cooperated with local and national NGOs in implementing the program.

Post-flood Program Just Started. The launch of the post-flood rehabilitation program was attended by Bojonegoro Regency head Suyoto and his deputy Setyo Hartono, President and General Manager MCL Mike K Nelson, Vice President EMOI Maman Budiman, Director General for oil and gas represented by Titis Jektirini and Estu Sutowo of BP Migas. Tuban Regency head Haeny Relawati was represented by Tuban's education department office head Karmani, while Blora regency head Yudhi Sabcoyo was represented by Blora secretary assistant Umartono.

Maman said ExxonMobil plans to conduct training to empower local people so that they could involve in Cepu Block project.  "We set agenda for training as we prioritize local people in our recruitment program," Maman said.  Bojonegoro regency wants ExxonMobil and MCL to recruit local people, with composition of 90 percent.

"Exxon promised 90 percent of its workers will come from Bojonegoro. If the portion is cut to 20 percent, I will challenge it," said Suyoto. The event was marked by the handover of rice seed and fertilizer by Bojonegoro regency head Suyoto to representatives of farmers of Kalitidu followed by the handover of medicine package helps to Kalitidu health center representatives. Mike K Nelson handed over education facilities to representatives of Blora and Tuban regencies.

Suyoto and Hartono also witness the free medical check up to people in Kalitidu sub-district. Mike K Nelson and Suyoto also tried the fogging machine presented by MCL.
